Three years after Chuy’s closed its doors on Rockville Pike, another Austin-based Tex-Mex chain is taking its place. Torchy’s Tacos will open at Federal Plaza next year, taking about half of the former Chuy’s space with a similar menu of tacos, chips, queso and cocktails. Taking over the other half of the space is Kura Revolving Sushi Bar, a conveyor belt-style restaurant featuring kitschy prizes and robots that deliver your drinks. Both restaurant chains are new to Maryland; Torchy’s is well-known in the Richmond area, and Kura has a three-year-old location in D.C.
