Mimi’s Handmade, our newest local ice cream shop, started scooping this week at Rockville’s Federal Plaza. This is the first Maryland location for owner Rollin Amore, a retired investment banker who taught himself how to make small-batch ice cream. Mimi’s, which has five locations in the DMV, is known for offering adventurous and Asian-inspired flavors along with the classics. In Rockville, the opening menu includes lychee, lime crunch, red guava, cucumber sherbet and vegan golden milk tea.

Mimi’s will fail, the masses of people don’t want the flavors they are serving. Most of them sound disgusting. It might last a year. Hope they didn’t sign a long term lease.

Mimi’s has plenty of flavors — vanilla, strawberry and multiple chocolate options — besides the adventurous ones. If you go, you will likely find something to love. Everything we tried was delicious.
