Oysters open at Park Potomac

King Street Oyster Bar made its Maryland debut at Park Potomac this week, almost exactly a year after Addie’s closed its doors at the same spot. King Street has a much more casual vibe than its predecessor: The interior is lighter, the floor plan is more open, and there’s a new nautical theme — including a chandelier fashioned from oyster shells. King Street, which has three other locations in the D.C. area, serves up a menu of East and West Coast oysters, seafood specials, smoked fish, salads, sandwiches, cocktails and happy hour deals.

Kate Hudson heads to the mall

More big news for local fitness fashionistas: Fabletics, the activewear chain founded by actress Kate Hudson, is heading to Westfield Montgomery mall. Doors will open this spring next door to Apple, directly above the Aerie store that’s also on the way. (More on that in last week’s issue.) The two popular retailers are joining a lineup that already includes Lululemon, Under Armour and the growing activewear departments at Old Navy, Macy’s and Nordstrom. In other words: Westfield Montgomery is about to become the best place in MoCo to shop for women’s workout clothes. Which will be especially convenient if the mall ever moves forward with pre-pandemic plans for a new Life Time Athletic club. (Haven’t heard about that? Click here.)

New sports bar for Pike & Rose

Something new opening later this year at Pike & Rose: Sports & Social, a sports bar featuring a wall of TVs, live music, air hockey, skeeball and the like. The chain is moving into the former Del Frisco’s Grille space across from Fogo de Chão, which has been empty since the steakhouse closed in the fall of 2019. Sports & Social, which usually operates inside casinos, is also opening a location at Maryland Live! in Hanover.
