Ritchie Center, home to a bounty of international restaurants at Rockville Pike and Wootton Parkway, has been doing a bit of reshuffling. Japong Bakery, celebrating its fifth anniversary at the center, has relocated to a larger space that was previously home to Peruvian restaurant La Limeña. Two doors down, Gama Korean Chicken has been replaced by a halal eatery called Taste of Kabab. And the restaurant in between them, long known as Live Crawfish & Seafood, recently changed its name to ÔC & Crab Seafood Restaurant.

Taste of Kebab is owned by the same people who own the grocery store next door, Bismillah 355. I saw the menu when I was in the store last week. They will have kebabs but also biryani and a few other dishes. All halal meats from their shop. Sounds great!

I saw them tearing down Jared and I could have sworn it said closed for remodeling. What are they putting in? An apartment building? Thx.

Plans have been submitted to the county for residential units with potential retail on the ground floor.

When is the new expanded Japong opening?

It’s already open! Look for it in the old La Limeña space.
